Neptune8

Accelerating universal access to water and sanitation.

The goal of our team at Neptune8 is to break barriers to drought-proof water and sanitation with decentralized, affordable Direct Potable Reuse (DPR)—the process of transforming wastewater into safe, high-quality drinking water.

TRITON™ - DPR robots

Water is essential. Yet 2 billion humans don’t have access to it or rely on depleting sources. Contamination from untreated wastewater causes millions of deaths yearly. Neptune8 offers an alternative, inspired by examples like Windhoek in Namibia or the International Space Station. At the heart of Neptune8’s mission is the development of decentralized and AI-powered direct potable reuse (DPR) robots called TRITON™.

Our approach merges cutting-edge water treatment technologies with the full integration of robotics and artificial intelligence. Designed for buildings and small communities, these robots will purify mixed wastewater and produce 10 M³ to 500 M³ per day of truly potable water, providing unprecedented safety and cost-effectiveness.

TRITON™ robots aim to make decentralized DPR hyper-safe and reliable, build public trust, and allow widespread adoption. Leveraging advances in artificial intelligence (AI)  and robotics, TRITON™ by Neptune8 will ensure a safe, affordable, and drought-proof water source, directly where it is needed.

Water security as a service

Following successful validation phase, Neptune8 plans to offer drought-proof water and sanitation as a service in water-scarce communities. Operating like mini utilities, a fleet of TRITON™ DPR robots will be deployed to users and managed remotely by experts. Supplemented by periodic recharges from “out of the aquifer” sources such as salt water and wastewater, Neptune8’s services will provide complete and reliable water and sanitation, safe from droughts and pollution, with affordable monthly billing based on consumption.

Accelerate universal access to water and sanitation

Neptune8 is a private organization with a dual purpose: operating partly for profit and partly for nonprofit to fund and deploy WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects in underserved communities. Several advanced proprietary technologies operating within TRITON™ DPR robots are set to be commercialized as independent products, from which 100% of profits will be donated to WASH projects. Combined with a multi-level tariff system for users, and innovative water credit programs, Neptune8 plans to deploy and operate decentralized DPR TRITON robots free of charge in poor and underserved communities, ensuring reliable and sustainable access to safe water and sanitation.

TRITON™ - Autonomous sanitation for urban buildings

TRITON™ leads decentralized wastewater management into a new era of possibilities and performance. It purifies raw wastewater into truly-potable water in multi-residential, commercial, institutional buildings, or small communities. Fully automated, TRITON™ robots also enable the on-site reuse of treated water to supply toilet flushing, reducing building’s water use by 35-40%. In addition, TRITON™ robots actively recover the heat discharged in the wastewater and allow its on-site reuse to preheat domestic hot water, saving 70% of costs for hot water production.

TRITON™ features a powerful wastewater treatment process, allowing the on-site discharge of treated water to the environment, even in sensitive areas. It also enables the effective removal of phosphorus and emerging contaminants such as microplastics and forever chemicals (PFAS), which normally accumulate in the receiving environment.

TRITON™ allows the safe reuse of treated water for various non-potable applications, reducing the building’s water consumption and significantly decreasing its footprint on the local aquifer and municipal infrastructure. Through its ability to recycle mixed wastewater (gray and black), TRITON™ eliminates the double drainage piping required by a conventional gray water recycling system, reducing construction costs.

TRITON™ actively recovers the heat discharged in the wastewater and allows its on-site reuse, reducing by 70% the amount of energy required for producing domestic hot water in the building, and significantly decreasing its energy costs and GHG emissions.

Decentralized wastewater management provides an effective and sustainable solution to the water-related municipal infrastructure limitations that hinder real estate development.

TRITON VP1 - Hello world!

TRITON VP1, our validation robot, is installed in a new 48-unit multi-housing building in Sherbrooke, designed by the Leclerc Architecture + Design Group, in collaboration with Les Habitations L’Équerre. This robot serves as a demonstration platform, helping our team optimize and certify the technology’s performance. TRITON VP1 treats the wastewater produced by the building, recovers its thermal energy to preheat domestic hot water, and recycles a portion of the purified water for flushing toilets.

This project is a springboard towards a more ambitious goal: making drinking water accessible everywhere by decentralizing the direct reuse of wastewater (DPR), and reducing our dependence on depleting resources. The world is changing. We believe that the way we manage water must evolve with it. Neptune8 is built for this future.
